One particular Sunday each summer was always worth the trip to Smiths Lawn to take photographs at the polo. Following the presentation of prizes by Her Majesty at the end of the polo match The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh would take their seats at the front of the royal box terrace, to watch the drive by of horses and carriages of the British Driving Society, who had just completed a drive through Windsor Great Park. At the end of the drive past, the carriages formed up within the roped off area where the prize giving had taken place, and The Queen, accompanied by Prince Philip, handed out rosettes to the drivers. They then returned to the castle by car, usually with The Duke driving and his wife as passenger.
